   PARKING

Before parking, always look out for NO PARKING / TOW AWAY ZONE signs to ensure that the space you intend to park in is not covered by the restriction of such boards. Each such signs applies over a distance of 15 meters in the direction indicated.

Parking should always be parallel to the curb line unless otherwise indicated. Motor cycles, scooters Should always be parked angular.

The vehicle should be parked as close to the kerb as possible (not exceeding 0.6 meters) and be within the parking area if marked.

Understand the correct way of parallel parking between two vehicles

Stop your vehicle exactly parallel to the vehicle ahead, keeping a distance of about 0.6 meters. Leave a gap of at least one meter between your vehicle and the vehicles in front and behind.
When parking on a slop, turn your front wheel fully towards the kerb and set parking brakes. The transmission should be left in the first or reverse gear as an added precaution in case of brake slippage.

    DRIVING AT NIGHT

Though there are a few vehicles on the road at night, this does not increase your safety in any manner, rather driving at night is more hazardous than day driving. The judgment of speeds and distance tend to be distorted due to poor visibility and limited sighting distance. The glare of headlights of oncoming vehicles may completely blind you for a moment, which can prove very serious.

Some useful hints to be observed while driving at night

In cities and towns streetlight is very bright, therefore, drive with dipped headlights, use only parking lights.

Out side city areas, use beam headlights and must dip them when an approaching vehicle is within 200 meters or when the other vehicle’s head lights dip, whichever is sooner. Also dip your head lights when driving 200 meters or less behind another vehicle.

Be Careful

There may be a ‘one eyed car’ instead of a motorcycle, scooter or moped approaching you.

If oncoming traffic does not dip its high beam, look to the left side of the road and drive towards the left of your lane and if you are dazzled, slow down or pull over until your eyes recover.

Always use low beam when driving in fog, or while following another vehicle, as your light reflects back, reducing visibility.

Dim your lights for oncoming traffic

Dim your lights when following other vehicles
