POLICE TRAINING COLLEGE

Tripura Police have got one training college for the Police personnel of Tripura. Initially it was set up at A.D.Nagar in the barracks of Tripura Armed Police Battalions on 01.05.1967 as a training School for the police personnel. Subsequently, it had got elevated to the status of Police Training College and got shifted to Narsingarh on 23/09/1985.

About PTC

PTC is solely devoted to impart training to police personnel. Normally PTC personnel are not related to L/O duty or any other duties like that of other units. As such, PTC can not help the citizens directly. PTC trains the police personnel in a befitting manner so that they can render their policing duties effectively and efficiently and in this way PTC helps the citizens indirectly. Moreover, on some specific occasions PTC personnel are deployed in L/O duty and in that case PTC can help the citizens directly.

The Principal, PTC is the head of the unit. He looks after the administrative functions as well as render instructional job for both indoor and outdoor faculties wherever necessary. Under the Principal, the PTC has one Asstt.Commandant and one Dy.SP looking after the outdoor function as Adjutant and indoor branch respectively. One Sr.Inspector(UB) functions as Chief Law Instructor and one SI(UB) functions as R.O. Other Inspectors(UB) and SIs/ASIs(UB) discharge their duties of indoor instructors.

 Two Inspectors(AB) function as QM and CDI respectively. One SI(AB) functions as Sub-Adjutant, one as Kote I/C. one as Mess officer. Three are H/Cs – one functions as BHM and one as CHM. Two H/Cs function as Kote NCOs and some personnel engaged in guard duty. Other Inspectors, SIs, HCs, NK(AB) function as outdoor instructors.

TRAINING COURSES

Police Training College has basically been set up with the infrastructure of imparting Basic Training to Recruit constables. However, by the passage of time the following courses have been taken up which are also conducted at the PTC.

• Basic Course of Radio Technicians;
• Refresher course of Constables;
• Refresher course of ASIs;
• Short term re-orientation course of SIs/Ocs;
• Pre-promotion course of CIs / Inspoectors;
• Pre-promotion course of SIs;
• Pre-promotion course of ASIs;
• J.C.Course;
• D & M Course;
• S.A.aF. condensed course;
• P.S.O. Course;
• Training of Trainers’ course;
• Refresher course for TPS Gr.II officers;
• Practical training of IPS probationers;
• Administrative (Accounts) short term training to LDCs/UDCs and the executive staff members performing the ministerial job in the Police Department.

The syllabus of the training courses are drafted as per the guidelines of the BPR & D and time to time instructions from the PHQ.

COMMITMENT

The purpose of Police Training College, Narsingarh, Tripura, is to assist the personal and professional deployment of the Police personnel so that they can carry out their policing duties effectively and efficiently.

All members of the staff at the PTC will work together to :-

1. Ensure effective management in staffing structure, organization and training;

2. improve the quality of service by designing and delivering training which ensure that the trainees are properly motivated;

3. Create environment in which learning and development can flourish to ensure high professional standard and fair treatment for all; and

4. Support the members of the force, public and to uphold the role of the police.
