Dhalai District
Organisationl History
The Dhalai District is named after the river "Dhalai" flowing
across this district from South to North. The district was created by curving out a
portion from the South Tripura District and some portion from the North Tripura District for
convenience of general administration and maintenance of peace and tranquility as well as
to provide the benefit of development to the people of interior areas quickly.
The District was opened on the 15th April 1995 with 3
Sub-divisions and 8 Police Stations. At present the District consists of 4 Sub-divisions
and 9 Police Stations. One new Sub-division, Ambassa and a new Police Station, Kachucherra
were created last year. The District is dominated by two-hill ranges viz. Longtharai in
the East and Atharomura in the Western side; both spreading from North to South. In
between this two hill ranges quiet flows the river Dhalai.
